I was here on Christmas Day in 2009 and did this painting. The couple in the foreground were so awestruck by the market they stood there for 20 minutes and I was able to paint them. I sat on the patio of an "American Hamburger" restaurant, which is ironic considering all the amazing Thai food that surrounded me.
About Craig Macnaughton
Toronto-based artist, graphic designer and filmmaker Craig Macnaughton uses watercolour and pen and ink to examine both the distant landscape and the human form. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, he has spent hours painting in front of famous landmarks, sacred temples and busy street markets to bring together his various influences – Schiele, Klee, the Impressionists, 20th century graphic and interactive design – and apply them to his subjects in a unique and modern way.
