A neat little market in Valdivia, with huge seals just around the corner that would moan and groan and push each other around. I love painting at markets. It's such a great way to see the locals doing their thing, and sometimes you get free stuff from a vendor!
About Craig Macnaughton
Toronto-based artist, graphic designer and filmmaker Craig Macnaughton uses watercolour and pen and ink to examine both the distant landscape and the human form. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, he has spent hours painting in front of famous landmarks, sacred temples and busy street markets to bring together his various influences – Schiele, Klee, the Impressionists, 20th century graphic and interactive design – and apply them to his subjects in a unique and modern way. Lessons learned from landscape and architecture are applied to the nude, which gives the human form an almost topographic quality.
