A must-see on any trip to Italy, or Europe for that matter. This was high above all the hustle and bustle and it let me paint two of my favourite things - colourful buildings and coastline.

About Craig Macnaughton

Craig Macnaughton

Toronto-based artist, graphic designer and filmmaker Craig Macnaughton uses watercolour and pen and ink to examine both the distant landscape and the human form. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, he has spent hours painting in front of famous landmarks, sacred temples and busy street markets to bring together his various influences – Schiele, Klee, the Impressionists, 20th century graphic and interactive design – and apply them to his subjects in a unique and modern way. Lessons learned from landscape and architecture are applied to the nude, which gives the human form an almost topographic quality.
