One of the first things I painted in Thailand, and one of the strangest to me at the time. I simply had not seen anything like it before. And the train trip to get there? Well, ask me about it when you see me.

About Craig Macnaughton

Craig Macnaughton

Toronto-based artist, graphic designer and filmmaker Craig Macnaughton uses watercolour and pen and ink to examine both the distant landscape and the human form. Having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, he has spent hours painting in front of famous landmarks, sacred temples and busy street markets to bring together his various influences – Schiele, Klee, the Impressionists, 20th century graphic and interactive design – and apply them to his subjects in a unique and modern way. Lessons learned from landscape and architecture are applied to the nude, which gives the human form an almost topographic quality.
